What Is Rare.io?

Rare.io is a predictive marketing automation platform for ecommerce. It automatically monitors the health of each and every customer and takes action with personalized mailouts that drive retention and engagement.
What we actually do is link via API to your ecommerce platform, such as Shopify or Spree, and stream and analyze your live store data. (We do not store secure information such as banking or credit card details.) After analyzing this customer data to detect trends around churn, retention, and engagement, we construct a probability list of which products customers will likely purchase next.
The point of having this information is simple: customers are tired of getting “spammed” by online stores with products that simply aren’t relevant to them. With a better understanding of customers’ needs, you can present them with better product choices. Today, only a few of the largest stores have and harness this capability—like Amazon, with its weekly recommendation emails. The vast majority have, until now, found it too expensive or too difficult.
2. Smart Data. Smart Email. Smart Sales.
Essentially, rare.io tracks which stage the customer is at in the purchase engagement cycle so you can deliver the correct message at the correct time. We monitor a variety of event types—for example, when a new customer makes a purchase, or when an existing customer places a follow-up order, goes idle, or churns. You can see the lifetime value not only of your complete customer base but of any specific segment you care to define.
Every one of these events triggers a personalized email to engage the customer. Unlike the messages sent by other event email companies, each email is unique and tailored to the individual customer, recommending products that he or she shows a high probability of actually purchasing.
3. What Does Rare.io Look Like?
At a high level, there are three broad sections in the platform. There’s the “dashboard,” which provides you with a snapshot of the key metrics around your store and presents ideas about where you might engage the customer. It also shows you the effectiveness of the current mailout campaigns you have running automatically.
Next, there’s the “segments” section, which allows you to rapidly investigate and define any customer segment and the associated metrics around that segment. We spent a lot of time here because traditionally database tools have been complex and very unfriendly for the average marketing person. Our tool is point-and-click, and customer lists can be viewed, campaigned, or exported into other platforms.
And finally, the third section provides you with detailed reports on everything from customers to revenues to discounts (around 50 metrics in total) plus detailed product reports that highlight every aspect of an individual product/SKU.
