Welcome to the inaugural post on the rare.io blog. Over the coming weeks and months, we aim to cover three broad areas. We will put forward our view on developments in the ecommerce marketplace, share lessons learned from our customers, and shamelessly promote the rare.io product offering as it evolves. 🙂
Now is a very exciting time to be in ecommerce as many of the initial mistakes have been made and lessons learned, and customers have moved beyond the basic promote/buy mantra. This means that issues that were not even problems as recently as five years ago are now major concerns. Customers are tired of endless spam about products they have absolutely no interest in. We expect more from the stores where we spend our money.
Much has been written about the promise of using data to drive customer purchase behaviour. We even have cool buzzwords like “big data” and “predictive analytics,” but for many, these solutions are either way too expensive, way too complicated, or way too slow. If you work at one of the top 1,000 brands, you likely have access to teams of people who can mine through the data to detect trends and behaviours that can be useful for marketing purposes.
Our mission at rare.io is to make those tools available to everyone. We don’t just believe in data and analytics for their own sake, but in insights and actions that drive revenue and retention.
